First things firs t… CMJ was fantastic!

Playing @ the Bowery Electric was a thrill!

Having Karli bring it in from T.O. was wicked fun … that girl is a lightening in a jar, I swear. Being around so much great music was a privilege!

To the many fans and friends who were present @ the CMJ showcase and who made up the mini NLX mafia … I AdoreYou! Who knew Young Love could become a sort of a choral participatory collaborative battle cry ‘Go Team, Go Fuck Yourself’! I love it!

And best line of the night and probably best of the entire month of October was provided by the insightful lady Kiri from the band AwShockKiss: “I’m in a band, you want to see my boob?” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Now on to the Midwest …

A little more than a week ago I made my first trip to Minnesota!

OHHHH GEEEZZZZEEEE !!!

I wasn’t expecting much but a fun few shows and maybe some moose sightings … I joke …

But the twin cities opened my eyes to so many things I had forgotten.

Where to begin …

People warned me of the Minnesota nice / ice … but this was really a piece of yummy cake!

At first sight, it seemed pretty Canadian … Lots of lakes … the locals seemed straight forward, blue collar, the occasional hockey head, tight jeans, smokers … so I felt pretty comfortable … but the twin cities have a special something … I can’t describe it, but it's there.

Friday night had me playing @ Eclipse records … a WICKED local record store. I’d like to thank Uzza and The Poor Weather Club for sharing the bill with NLX!

Word to the curious, check out The Poor Weather Club! They’re a mix of dirty noise/beats joined by hollowed tinny guitar sounds smoothed out by uncomplicated bellowing base lines and anxiously tense vocals ... loved them!

All things NLX went smashingly well. Thank you St. Paul!! Then the best news of the night ... it was brought to my attention that The Drug Budget band leader /vocalist, Vain Mainstream (yes his legal name), closed the doors of ‘The Love Doctor’, the twin cities' finest adult superstore, to see some NLX?

Ok, please take the scope of this in … he shut the doors of this enormous institution @ 10pm on a Friday. This is beyond brilliant! Later, I went to visit the masked man and hang @ The Love Doctor. Lets just say, I was humbled by the wares. Apparently, I qualified for the dancer discount of 30% had I desired to purchase anything … Yes it was better than Christmas!

The weekend rounded out with a few late night eats @ wicked low key/no fuss places, a sightseeing tour from Devlin and Stacia … we drove past The Mall of America and yeah, it's retarded big. A very intimate living room show hosted by the amazing Amy @ Collected Sounds , a late night trip to Wisconsin to watch The No No’s really give er' @ some Rodeo Bar, and then it was off to catch my flight back to NYC.

I love you Minnesota!
